Our History

Bethany Baptist.jpg

In 1978, a group of dedicated Christians began to meet together for worship and to seek God’s will concerning the organization of a new church.  Following much prayer and discussion, Bethany Baptist was formed on September 13, 1978 followed by its constitution on Sunday October 19th one month later.

In 1979 Bethany Baptist purchased seven acres of land fronting New Highway 72 for the purpose of erecting a church building.  Within the same year, the property was paid off, and in the following year, the church broke ground to begin construction on a multi-purpose building which would serve various needs within the church.  The church’s first service in the newly constructed building was held on December 7, 1980.

As years passed, Bethany continued to grow, and new areas of ministry were added.  In 1983, ten Sunday School classrooms were constructed by friends and church members, thus supplying more space for Bible study and other church programs.  In 2018 Bethany members voted to create a cross garden on the property, creating a visual reminder of Jesus’ great love for our world.

Throughout its history, Bethany has strived to be a caring and generous church, ministering to its members was well as the community of Loudon and beyond.  Each member has left their own imprint on the church body, using their God-given gifts by serving in numerous capacities within the church.  Today, Bethany continues to pursue the task that God has set before us – to bring others to a saving knowledge of His Son, Jesus.
